Nexus 5X vs Nexus 6P Comparison: Specification, Review, and Features

This is the first time that Google followed Apple’s footsteps by announcing two Nexus devices at the same time. So if a Nexus Phone is on your wish-list right now and you are confused in deciding which one of the two – Nexus 5X or Nexus 6P – should you go with then we have here prepared a comparison of the two devices in terms of price, specifications, and other features.

The Nexus devices once used to be among the budget smartphones that offered premium smartphoning experience but that has changed with time and this time the prices of the Nexus devices have gone premium too. The 16 GB variant of the LG build Nexus 5X will be available at a price of Rs. 31,990 while the 32GB variant will cost Rs 35,900. The premium Huawei Nexus 6P will be retailed at Rs 39,999 and Rs 42,999 for the 32GB and 64GB variants respectively.

The difference in the prices of the two Nexus Smartphones is evident in the build and design too, the costlier Nexus 6P features a full Metal body and its screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 4. It has a fingerprint sensor on the back and two front-facing stereo speakers. The camera on the back of the Nexus 6P is housed inside a visor which might be disliked by some.

The LG Nexus 5X. on the other hand uses a smooth plastic body, which reminds me of the Nexus 5 in 2013. It too has a fingerprint scanner on the back, but it has just included aa single speaker and the 3rd Generation of Gorilla Glass.

The LG Nexus 5X has a 5.2-inch display, which is Full HD and offers a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels at a pixel density of 424 ppi. The Nexus 6P on the other hand, has a 5.7 inch screen that looks more like a phablet, it is a step ahead of the Nexus 5X offering QHD display at a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a pixel density of 515 ppi. The Nexus 5X features a IPS LCD display while the Nexus 6P sports an AMOLED display.

Specs wise the Nexus 6P’s display outshines the display of the 5X but in the real world application the difference is not that evident and both the phones offers a crisp, vibrant display with nice brightness and great viewing angles.

The LG Nexus 5X is powered by a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor and is coupled with 2 GB of RAM, which looks efficient of delivering a smooth and fast performance without any lags, while the Huawei Nexus 6P is powered by an Octa Core Snapdragon 810 and with that it has 3 GB of RAM that is more powerful than the Nexus 5X and will offer much more multi-tasking capabilities than the Nexus 5X.

The LG Nexus 5X will e available with the storage options of 16 GB and 32 GB while the Huawei Nexus 6P will be available with the storage options of 32 GB and 64 GB. Both the devices will not have the option of expanding the memory capacity.

Both the Nexus 5X and 6P sports 12.3 MP cameras on the back and Google has claimed that they offer better photos in low light conditions compared to the iPhone 6s Plus as they use ‘large pixels’.

They rear cameras in both the devices are the same with dual-LED flash, f/2.0 aperture lens and laser auto-focus. The front facing cameras are different though with the Nexus 6P having a 8 MP shooter and the Nexus 5X having a 5 MP one.

On the software front both Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P are exactly the same, both will be running the latest version of android which is the v6.0 Marshmallow.

The Nexus 5X is runs by a 2,700 mAh battery and the Nexus 6P by a 3,450 mAh. Yes the 6P has a larger battery but it has a larger and better screen too which will result in more battery usage.

In the connectivity department both the devices are exactly the same and they will both be using a USB type C cable for charging and data transfer.
