The Legend of Zelda – Breath of the Wild, Action-Adventure Video Game Storyline, New Features


Nintendo first teased The Legend of Zelda – Breath of the Wild game back in 2013 and that time everybody believed that it will come alongside the Wii U console. And now at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, E3 2016, the game has finally become a reality: the Japanese game maker had devoted its entire booth to just one game, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Will the new Breath of Wild Zelda game be acclaimed as a classic just like its predecessors were, we will have to wait and watch to find answers to this question but what we do know for sure is that it represents a considerable change-up and at the same time oozes irresistible amount of charm.

Link wakes up in the Shrine of Resurrection, wearing just shorts. Here he gets the Sheikah Slate, which is a tablet-like object. Moving out he gets some clothes and a mysterious female voice is introduced that tells him that he is the last hope for saving the world of Hyrule. Link encounters an old man (whose buildings are all ruined and reclaimed by nature), the female voice further instructs him to a pedestal where he inserts the Sheikah Slate that raises a number of towers across the land.

The female voice then tells him that he has been sleeping for a number of years, and that a “beast” has taken over Hyrule and it has only been held back by the magical powers of the Hyrule Castle, but it is now on the brink of escaping and destroying Hyrule. The old man then informs that the beast is called Calamity Ganon. And with this, another saga of world saving quest.

The Legend of Zelda – Breath of the Wild: New Changes, What has changed

The developers have made some serious changes to the new iteration of the legend of zelda game, making it different and fresh. I have listed some of the mechanical changes below.

Link can climb anything, okay almost anything – Trees, rock faces, castle walls, etc, if it is a surface Link can climb it. Link can’t climb things only that were designed not climbable. Also, his stamina decides how high can he climb.

Shields and Weapons wear down and break.

You will now not find Hearts in grass. In Order to gain life back, you will have to hunt or scour for food. To top that, if you want more life from a food, you will have to cook it over a flame.

You have a sound meter – While  sneaking up on or passing enemies, you will have to stoop low and watch the sound meter to make sure that you are not making too much of noise.

You HUD will have a thermometer: The character of Link will get hot and cold and you will have to actually manage his clothing to stay comfortable.

Link surf down hills on shield and fires arrows at enemies – There were a number of Zelda fans who have been asking the franchise to change things up, change the classic mechanics, but staying the same in the core. And with The Legend of Zelda – Breath of the Wild the company has managed to do just that.
