The smartphone market now has now become very vast, it has almost attained a position where you can get the kind of phone you want very easily, just that you will have to pay for it. Today we compare the latest three premium phablets from the three big players of the smartphone business, Apple’s iPhone 6S Plus, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 and Google’s Huawei manufactured Nexus 6P. Let’s see how these big smartphones stack up against each other.

iPhone 6S Plus vs Samsung Galaxy Note 5 vs Nexus 6P: Price and Features Comparison

  • Comparison between PRICE

Premium Phones from Premium Brands is always going to be a costly affair, so is the case with the three iPhone 6S Plus, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Nexus 6P too. The costliest among the lot is the iPhone 6S Plus whose lowest 16GB variant comes for a huge amount of 72,000 rupees. If you feel that the 16GB is never going to be enough for you (that it will not) then you will have to shell out Rs. 82,000 and Rs. 92,000 for the 64GB and the 128GB variant, which according to me is crazy.

The Note Series from Samsung nas the one that actually started the trend of phablets and Samsung have come with the 5th iteration of its Note Series. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 costs a good Rs. 53900 for the 32GB variant and the 64GB of it will cost you Rs. 59900.

Google Nexus 6P, which is manufactured by Huawei is the latest member in the list of premium phablets. Among the three, the Nexus 6P cost the least with a price tag of Rs. 39,999 and Rs. 42,999 for the 32GB and 64GB variant respectively.

  • Comparison between BUILD and DESIGN:

The iPhone 6S Plus carries forward the design of the iPhone 6 Plus, just a bit thicker and a bit of more weight. The smartphones has an aluminum back, which like the previous models has the antenna strips at top and bottom. The phone has rounded edges, it tends to get slippery and would be better inside a cover. Apple has introduced a new color option in its latest iPhones, called the Rose Gold, which does look good but will have a limited appeal. Apple has used the 7000 series Aluminum to not face the horrors of bendgate again.

Samsung had bid adieu ti plastic bodies in its flagships with the Galaxy S6, Samsung has used a very similar design and body in the Note 5, glass back and rounded edges, which makes the device fit easily in the palms. Even this phone will be better of with a cover. Like all other Note series smartphones, this phone features the S Pen stylus, the lack of a fingerprint scanner in this phone is though not justified.

Huawei has come up with a really interesting design in the Nexus 6P, the aluminum back on the slim phone feels good to hold. The Nexus 6P is not as sleek as the S6, but the 7.3mm body does not give anything to complain. One thing that makes the Nexus 6P unique is the camera bump on the back, which will be loved and hated according to the personal choices of the user but it does make the phone stand out.

  • Comparison between DISPLAY

The display of the iPhone 6S Plus has an added advantage over its competitions with the inclusion of the 3D Touch technology, which allows the user to interact with the phone with the amount of pressure he applies on the screen.

Size-wise the display of the iPhone 6S Plus measures 5.5 inch and has a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels and the pixel density of 401 ppi.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has a 5.7 inch Super AMOLED screen  with a higher 1440×2560 pixels resolution and a greater pixel density of 518 ppi. The AMOLED screen of the Note 5 looks brilliant and gives an amazing multimedia experience.

The Nexus 6P also has a 5.7 inch QHD AMOLED screen with 2,560×1,440 pixel resolution, the pixel density like the Note 5 also stays at 518 ppi.

Comparison between PROCESSOR

The iPhone 6S Plus is packed with Apple’s latest A9 processor and it this time it has a greater 2GB RAM to support it compared to the iPhone 6  Plus that had only 1GB RAM.

The Samsung Note 5 is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 7420 octa-core processor and has large 4GB of RAM to support it.

The Nexus 6P has the 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor to power it, which is backed up with 3GB of RAM. The overheating problem that was seen in the 810 processors is handled well and the phone does not get irritating warm.

All the three phone are extremely fast and snappy and you will not observe any sluggishness in these. Though the integrated hardware and software of the iPhone gives a tad bit better user experience.

Comparison between STORAGE

This is one department that Apple has disappointed many by keeping the base model still at 16GB which is very low seeing the improved cameras and 4K video capture capability. You get to choose the iPhone 6S Plus from 3 storage  variants of 16GB, 64GB and 128GB. Like always the iPhone does not have an expandable option.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has two storage variants, 32GB and the 64GB one and the same goes for the Nexus device. Both these phones too do not have expandable storage option.

  • Comparison between CAMERAS

These three phones are currently among the best camera smartphones available. The iPhones have always been the leaders in the camera department and now even the Android devices are catching up.

The iPhone 6S Plus has upped the megapixel count in their latest iPhones and the cameras have now become 12MP on the back and 5MP on the front. They have also included features like Live Photos and Retina Flash. The phones also offer Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has 16MP and 5MP cameras on the rear and front. Nexus 6P has included 12MP shooter on the back and a 8MP shooter on the front. Both these phone click brilliant photos and will not disappoint you at all. The Nexus 6P camera performs brilliantly in dark conditions, better than the other two devices.

  • Comparison between SOFTWARE

The Apple iPhone 6S Plus runs the iOS 9.0 that is upgradable to iOS 9.0.2. Among the Android devices, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 runs the TouchWIZ UI over the Android v5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. Nexus 6P on the other hand runs the stock version of the latest Android v6.0 Marshmallow. The Nexus 6P phone also comes with the promise of being updates to the latest versions of the OS in the future.

  • Comparison between BATTERY

Apple iPhone 6S has seen some flake in the battery department but the iPhone 6S Plus does not falter in this department with the big 2,750mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has a bigger 3000mAh battery and the Nexus 6P the largest 3450 mAh battery.

To all my friends out their confused between selecting a smartphone among these three i must say that all the three devices are mind blowing and your decision will have to depend on few things that you want or don’t want from your device other than the OS.

If you need the Force Touch feature and the Live photos then you need to get the Apple iPhone 6S Plus, just make sure that you stay away from the 16GB variant.

It the stylus is the thing that matters the most to you than go with the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. But if you need a fingerprint scanner on your smartphone then this is not the device for you.

If you are the kind of person who needs the latest version of Android running on the smartphone without compromising on any high end feature than the Nexus 6P is the one that you need to select.
