Today we bring you the first impressions review of the Asus Zenpad 8.0.

After the success of the Nexus Tablets that Asus produced it has once again tried providing its users with a nice hardware and software, low cost tablets.

Asus ZenPad 8.0: Build and Design

In design and build, the Asus ZenPad 8.0 is nothing exceptionary and features a monotonous Gorilla Glass Covered display on the front. The metal-finished plastic sides house the power/lock button and the volume rocker keys.

The better part of the Asus ZenPad 8.0 lies on the back that has a aluminum cover with a brushed metallic finish, this is bordered by a metallic edge. This gives this Asus Tablet an elegant look.

When holding the Asus ZenPad 8.0 in the horizontal direction, there is a Faux-leather material at the bottom of the tablet, which feels god and it provides that extra grip to prevent your tablet slipping away.

Asus ZenPad 8.0: Display

ASUS ZenPad 8.0 comes with an 8-inch IPS LCD display that has a resolution of 2048×1536 pixels, and a pixel density of 320 ppi. I found that the text on the screen of the Zenpad 8.0 comes very sharp, and the viewing angles are nice too with god color reproduction.

The videos at times looked sharpened or smoothed that I hope will be resolved in coming updates.

Asus ZenPad 8.0: Performance

The Asus ZenPad 8.0 is powered by a 2.3 GHz, Qualcomm Snapdragon 610 quad-core processor and that is coupled with a Adreno 405 GPU and a nice 2 GB of RAM.

The tablet offers a smooth, lag free experience and there is not much problem in daily usages of the device. But when playing some high end games (Asphalt 8 is what I did), I observed few hiccups and the tablet did get warm, so if your primary requirement from a tablet is some nice gaming experience, you will have to look elsewhere.

Asus ZenPad 8.0: Camera

The tablets have long been carrying the bad name of having ‘mediocre cameras’, the Asus ZenPad 8.0 somewhat manages to change the notion but does not succeed completely. The ZenPad has a 8 MP primary camera and a 2 MP Camera on the front.

The rear camera takes nice pictures but that is only if it gets nice light conditions for it. It has its limitations and those are more than the good parts. The pictures most of the time and lack in detail.

The front camera can be ignored.

Asus ZenPad 8.0: Software Experience

The Asus ZenPad 8.0 runs the Android 5.0 Lollipop; on top of that it has the Zen UI skin.

This is no secret that most of us are not huge fans of custom UIs. In the case of the ZenUI, the changes Asus has made to the pure Android interface are not totally bad. Some services that Asus has provided do tend to be useful like Asus’ ZenMotion and the Autostart Manager. They have kept the material design of the Android Lollipop which is a good thing.

Asus ZenPad 8.0: Storage

The Asus ZenPad 8.0 comes with 16 GB of internal storage and if the user wants more storage space he can expand the memory upto 64 GB using a microSD card.

Asus ZenPad 8.0: Battery

It comes with a 15.2Whr battery which looks capable of running through an entire day.

Asus ZenPad 8.0: First Impression

Asus has once again come up with a decent affordable tablet and it can be good tablet option for the people looking to get a tablet for purposes other than some high intensity and high graphic games. If you could spend a few more bucks you can chose to get an Audio cover along with it to enhance the movie watching experience. That would cost you Rs. 17,999 in total.
