The Asus smartphones have enjoyed their share of popularity among the smartphone users, especially their Asus Zenfone budget smartphones, the last of which, Asus Zenfone 2 was launched in January 2015. Considering this pattern of Asus introducing their Zenfone smartphones we were expecting an early year launch of the Asus ZenFone 3.

The latest update about the ZenFone 3 smartphone comes from Taiwan, this reports claims that the new Asus Zenfone smartphone might be packed with a fingerprint scanner and it will be launched during May/June 2016. If this comes true, the ZenFone 3 smartphone will be the company’s first set of mobile phones to feature a fingerprint scanner. As per these claims the ZenFone will come bit late then its expected launch time. But if the reports about it featuring a fingerprint scanner come true, the wait will be worth it as it will become one of the few mid-range smartphones to feature a fingerprint scanner.

Asus ZenFone 3 Series to Bear Fingerprint Sensors, Launch in May

A few months back, the fingerprint scanners were exclusive to the high-end smartphones, but as the technology grows old and popular, it gets cheaper and affordable, and now we have best Smartphones under Rs. 10,000 offering a good fingerprint scanner. Therefore, it will not be surprising if we see a good performing fingerprint scanner incorporated in the upcoming Zenfone 3.

According to sources in Taiwan, AsusTek will most probably adopt fingerprint recognition technology developed by the Taiwan-based company Elan Microelectronics and the China-based Goodie.

Earlier, Jonney Shih, the CEO of Asus had informed that the new series of ZenFone smartphones will feature the new generation USB Type-C ports, which are presently seen in only a few Android smartphones including the OnePlus 2, LG made Nexus 5X, and Huawei made Nexus 6P.

The reports claim that ASUS have sold around 20 million smartphones in the year 2015, and the company is planning to increase this figure by 10 million units in the upcoming year. The Asus ZenFone smartphones have been enjoying good sale in the markets of Southeast Asia, India, Russia, Brazil, and Taiwan, and they plan to plan new markets of Cambodia, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nigeria and Egypt in 2016. But it is not going to be all that easy for the smartphone manufacturer as it faces stiff competition from the likes of Huawei, Lenovo, Xiaomi, OnePlus, and others new players.
